Lois Meade, the cleaning lady in the village of Long Farnden, often finds herself cleaning more than houses. She moonlights for the local police, picking up clues that might be overlooked. The residents of this sleepy English village are forming a committee to save the Shed, their run-down community hall. Lois's husband, Derek, serves as chair, presiding over the usual assortment of curmudgeons and eccentrics. There are those who don't want the Shed saved, however, and it quickly becomes clear they will stop at neither arson nor murder to get their way.
